In what grade level does your school use VocabularySpellingCity?
K-5. I now teach 5th grade. I’ve been teaching for 13 years, and have also taught grades 1, 2, and 4.

How did you start using VocabularySpellingCity?
I started using the free membership when I taught 1st grade. I enjoyed the fact that students could take a spelling test at their own pace and on their own level. I purchased the Premium membership when I began teaching 5th grade and had several different spelling groups in my classroom. I currently have five spelling groups ranging from 2nd-6th grade within my classroom. I can’t imagine the chaos in my room if I tried to administer a paper/pencil assessment for each of those spelling groups.

Which devices do you use?
iPads, desktop computers, Chromebooks, and Smartboards.

Do you use any Reading Series in class?
We use a lot of Reading A-Z, Science A-Z, Treasures, and some Journeys books.

How do you use VocabularySpellingCity in the classroom?
I use it for weekly assessments and spelling activities. Students come to me reading anywhere from a 1st grade to a 6th grade level. Trying to teach and make resources for all that vocabulary and spelling is difficult.

What do your students say about learning with VocabularySpellingCity?
They love it! My students love to the play Splat-N-Spell, the game where you squash the roaches!

What have been the key benefits for your students in using VocabularySpellingCity?
My students love to “play” the spelling games and the fun, interactive games allow them to stay interested in working on their spelling and vocabulary skills, while working at their own level.
